Outlawed by Amazon DRM bekkelund.net

Everyone’s linking to this horror story from Martin Bekkelund:

A couple of days a go, my friend Linn sent me an e-mail, being very frustrated: Amazon just closed her account and wiped her Kindle. Without notice. Without explanation. This is DRM at its worst.

This is shitty enough, but you haven’t read the replies from Amazon’s customer service representative. For example:

We regret that we have not been able to address your concerns to your satisfaction. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any additional insight or action on these matters.

This isn’t even new. In 2009, you will recall, Amazon remotely deleted copies of George Orwell’s “1984”, because Jeff Bezos apparently has a warped sense of humour.
